No, this blog isn't about the Marcos's unfinished rest house in Tagaytay. People's Palace is the new Thai restaurant in Greenbelt, beside Via Mare. The restaurant is unusual/memorable if only for the fact that it does not allow walk-in customers (or at least that's what my friend who made the reservation said). I find all of this a little too pretentious; a heavy baggage for any restaurant to carry.
This plus the hefty price tag (our table spent over P3,300 for a party of four) may account for this less than positive review. In my terribly biased opinion, any restaurant that requires reservations and charges close to hotel prices better deliver on the food. At best, the food was forgettable; at worst, oily, flavorless, crappy, expensive, pretentious food.
People's Palace is supposedly the new "in" place to dine in Greenbelt; this should have clued me in on the overall dining experience. As is normally the case in these types of restaurants, food quality correlates negatively with the difficulty for a diner to eat in these places.
I must confess that my friend at another table enjoyed her meal; upon discussion, I found that their table ordered different dishes. I may revisit this review if I get a chance to eat at PP again; however, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I found your blog while searching for more info on People's Palace. I was surprised that you didn't like the food here that much. I actually love the food here; makes me feel I am back in Bangkok. Their Tom Yum Goong disappointed me a bit though. It lacked a certain pizzaz, I can't pinpoint what was missing. More thai basil and lime maybe? I'm not too sure. I must admit that dining here can put stress on your wallet. We spend an average of 1,200 per head whenever we visit this place. Well, since I enjoy the food I shouldn't really mind and service is great anyway. I hope you visit PP again, try their other dishes and maybe you'd like it this time. Happy eating!
we tried it last night and we found most of the dishes we ordered very good. pandan chicken, beef curry, prawn spring rolls, chicken in gata soup, bagoong rice, morning glory, pavlova for dessert. we were a bit disappointed with the mango cheesecake since the mango was served separately from the cheesecake. the fish we ordered was also forgettable.
but we did not need a reservation there. we were walk-in customers. so maybe they have changed since your december experience.
Me and my friend also went there for lunch, and we were walk-ins as well. I too am much dissappointed in the food - the lapu-lapu dish we ordered was tasteless =(
Do you know any place that serves Khau Pot? (I dont know how to spell it) Its just fried rice(not bagoong) and various toppings. I got to taste this in Bangkok (those small carinderias they have) and am really craving for it now =)
hi! You know what I found all of your blogs very critical, it's either you don't like the food, the service and the ambience why's that? people's palace is indeed very good i wouldn't mind spending a lot to experience their good food and excellent service :-)
It's not a new resto. My bf and I used to frequent their Malate location (now moved to GB3). I miss the old location since it was more intimate, not required for reservations and super nice and attentive staff. We were sad when we hard of the move since we know there will be consequences for this...oh, plus the wait of about a month and a bit was a killer for us who loves this place like a second home.
Gone are the days of great quiet and homey staff sort of restos that Malate caters to. Hay...there were some dishes that were not available anymore at their new venue also.
On my last visit, our experience was okay though a simple Thai Ice Tea was out-of-stock!?! I still like their friend lapu-lapu though the Tom Yum is a bit of a rip-off due to the size for two...kinda wrong to have one and a half bown for two people. :P I like the neverending rice...actually my bf liked that. Our bill has yet to reach 3.3k but I don't know...we didn't order super many dishes so can't say.
Two things I would like to note:
1) not happy about the place being so packed and walk-ins are doubtful on evenings
2) didn't like the fresh spring roll...nothing like the ones we used to have in Malate...they didn't have it there before but I remember I special requested this and they were super nice in making one for us!
YOUR PAGE IS GREAT. IT REALLY HELPED ME UNDERSTAND THE TOPIC

Tsk, tsk, Foodie you are a certified Food Hater, I think you are just seeking for attention by making a blog about bad food, resto, scenarios or whatsoever. Maybe your bored in your life or something, thats why you are making a lot of things negatively, You need to have a professional advice, or the best way to solve your every food encounter problem is just DONT EAT AND DIE!
It Helps!
currant, were you only two when you went to PP Greenbelt?
i really don't know what the fuss is all about. we were three, so we ordered a lot, even a few desserts. one friend was into healthy, another was a carnivore. nothing was memorable.
my cousin from HK also likes it, but she's into healthy.
we had a reservation but we had to wait, so i guess that's why they had a reservation policy, for the guests' convenience.
how come the comments don't have dates?
